AI Connections and MCP: overview

What MCP is, how BaTimo works with ChatGPT and Claude, what your AI can do in your business, how access works and where to start.

AI Connections let an AI assistant you already use, such as ChatGPT or Claude, work inside your BaTimo company. The AI can read your conversations and leads, configure your assistant, channels, website chat, bookings, products and automations, look things up in this Help Center, and send or schedule WhatsApp messages. You stay in control of what it may do.

What is MCP?

MCP is the common way AI apps such as ChatGPT and Claude connect to other services. You add BaTimo to your AI app once; after that, when you ask for something, the AI can look things up and make changes in BaTimo for you.

In your AI app, BaTimo appears as BaTimo (connections made before October 2026 may show BaTimo Business Workspace). It offers about 70 actions covering this Help Center and setup checks, the assistant and its FAQs and knowledge, channels and website chat, images, bookings, products, message flows and Instagram automations, leads, conversations and WhatsApp follow-ups. See What your AI can do.

How it works with BaTimo

  1. You open Settings > AI Connections in the BaTimo Console, download the BaTimo plugin for ChatGPT or Claude and upload it in that app. You can also add BaTimo by its server address, or use Claude Code or Cursor. BaTimo is not yet listed in the ChatGPT directory.
  2. You sign in to BaTimo and approve the connection on a consent screen: you pick one company and the permissions to grant.
  3. The AI can now work in BaTimo. Everything it does uses your permissions, for that one company, with the same rules and plan limits as the Console.
  4. You can see the connection under Settings > AI Connections > Connected Apps and Revoke it at any time.

What the AI can do

  • Understand your business: read conversations, message history, leads, bookings settings, products and automations, and search this Help Center to learn how a feature works.
  • Set things up: create or update the assistant and its FAQs, knowledge document settings, booking services, staff and working hours, products and categories, DM flows, comment and story-reply automations, and every website chat setting.
  • Manage channels: see which channels are connected, turn them on or off, and change their AI-reply settings. To connect Instagram or WhatsApp, the AI gives you the link to the right Console page; you sign in to the provider there, and the AI checks the result afterwards. The AI never sees your provider login.
  • Use images: copy an image from a public web address into BaTimo once and reuse it in flows, products or the website chat.
  • Find problems: run a setup check that lists issues such as a channel that is on but not connected, with a suggested fix.
  • Delete with care: nothing is deleted until you approve.
  • Follow up with customers: send a non-promotional WhatsApp message (a reminder, a requested follow-up, a service or order update), or schedule a small batch of up to 25, then monitor, pause or cancel it. Recipients must have agreed, STOP replies are honored, and strict limits apply. This is only available by asking your AI app; it is not available in the BaTimo Console. See Send WhatsApp follow-ups with your AI.

Who can use it, and where

  • The connection is made by a BaTimo user, and the AI acts with that user's permissions. A staff member can only grant what their own permissions allow.
  • AI Connections are available on every plan. There is no plan or account-type restriction today. If AI Connections are unavailable, Settings > AI Connections says so, and an AI app will report that the server address cannot be found; contact BaTimo support.
  • Owners can use everything; staff need the matching permission (see Security and permissions).
  • The mobile app shows the same page under Home > Settings > AI Connections, but plugin and configuration files can only be downloaded on a computer. WhatsApp messages and changes made by your AI appear in the app like any other.

Start here

  1. Connect BaTimo to ChatGPT or Claude
  2. Read Security, permissions and limits
  3. Try the real-world examples
  4. For follow-ups and campaigns: WhatsApp follow-ups with your AI, campaign tutorials and WhatsApp consent and anti-spam rules

Limitations

  • Each connection grants access to one company.
  • Whether you can add a custom server depends on your AI app's plan and workspace settings. In ChatGPT it needs developer mode (on Business, Enterprise and Edu an admin turns it on; personal plans may be limited to reading). Claude allows custom connectors on every plan (one on the Free plan). See Connect BaTimo.
  • The AI sees the data it reads (for example customer messages) and processes it under the AI provider's own terms. See Security.
