Choose which customer details your assistant collects

Select the lead fields (name, email, phone and more) your assistant asks for, and add custom fields such as budget or date.

When Collect Customer Information is on, the assistant gathers the details you select during the conversation and saves them on the customer's record in Leads and contacts.

Turn it on

  1. Open Assistant > Assistant settings > Lead Collection (web) or the assistant setup on mobile.
  2. Switch on Collect Customer Information.
  3. Under Select Fields to Collect, choose at least one field. The form reports "Select at least one field when lead collection is enabled."
  4. Save Assistant.

Built-in fields

Name, Email, Phone, Company, Job title, Interested in and Notes.

Custom fields

Use Add a Custom Field to collect anything else: enter a Field label (for example "Project budget") and a Field type:

TypeUse for
TextFree-form answers
NumberBudget, party size, quantity
DatePreferred date
Yes / NoQualifying questions
Email, Phone, URLValidated contact details

Custom fields belong to this assistant and are selected automatically when added. Remove one with Remove custom field.

Contacts and leads

The assistant saves details as soon as the customer shares any, even one at a time. A name or a phone number on its own is saved, and the assistant is instructed not to ask again for something the customer already gave.

Saving details makes the customer a contact. The assistant marks them as a lead only when they clearly ask to buy, for a quote or consultation, to book, or send a lead request, and it records what they asked for. Greetings, contact details, and messages your business sent first don't create leads.

When the same customer writes again later, for example from the same WhatsApp number, the assistant receives the details they gave before. It never sees your team's internal notes or sales stage.

Where the answers appear

Collected values appear on the customer's record (see Leads and contacts) and in the Inbox side panel. A New Lead notification is sent only when the customer becomes a lead. See Notifications.

Tips

  • Ask for what you truly need to follow up: usually name and phone or email, plus one qualifying field such as "Interested in".
  • A long list of fields makes conversations feel like a form; keep it to three or four.

Troubleshooting

  • Customers appear in Contacts but not in Leads: they shared details without a sales request. Test by asking for a quote from your own account on a connected channel, or use Convert to lead.

Limitations

  • Fields are collected conversationally; customers can decline to answer.
